Why Me?

Hand lettering Trust in the Lord with your heart. Biblical background. Christian poster. New Testament. Scripture. Card. Modern calligraphy Proverbs

“Why me?” It’s the hardest question I ask myself. Whether you do or don’t know the reason you have epilepsy, remember God always has a plan for you. Sometimes we don’t know, but that’s ok. No matter what, trust in God even if we can’t see where His plans lead us. Unfortunately, at this point I still don’t know the answer to “why me?”, but like my husband tells me, I may never know. Through my growing faith with the Lord, I have begun to move away from the negative mindset. When thoughts of self-doubt try to take hold of me, I try to shift the focus off me and look for ways to help people with it. One way is this blog. I hope to reach others who struggle with epilepsy. Even if you do not have epilepsy, no matter what our burden in life is, we must look to the Lord for guidance and comfort. He is always by our side. His will is perfect, and our life should be lived according to His plans.

Think about occurrences throughout your life that show God’s presence in your life. My most obvious occurrence is when He saved my life after I endured a brutal car wreck. Despite traumatic injuries to my body, He kept me alive, and my scars remind me of this fact every day. Another way in which He has blessed me are the people I have in my life. My mom, dad, and in-laws have been extremely helpful and encouraging. My husband, despite this burden in my life, loves me for who I am. My friends are constantly providing for me in so many ways. The Lord has blessed me with people in my life that are loving and supportive of me, and I don’t know what I would do if the Lord didn’t place them in my life.

Take a few minutes to make a list of occurrences throughout your life that show God is always by your side. You might be surprised!

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2

Sometimes I think it is impossible to understand why certain things happen. Especially bad things. I do think it is always possible to find good in the middle of the bad. Sometimes it is very difficult to see the good. But if we look hard it is there. Mary
