How Can Faith Alter Your Life with Epilepsy?
Revived by His Faithfulness: Finding Strength when Life is Hard
I grew up in a Christian home, was raised Methodist, and baptized before I was a year old. After turning 12, I was diagnosed with epilepsy and became more rebellious. In high school, the rebellion escalated, and I began doing things that worsened my epilepsy and caused more seizures. I still went to church thinking that was the only thing needed to have the Lord in my life and be saved. No matter how I was behaving, I never actually developed a true relationship with the Lord. I didn’t read the Bible or attend Bible studies. I made no effort to grow in understanding of God’s word and I wasn’t following Christ daily. Half the time, I wasn’t even listening during the service at church. My husband is Baptist, so after we got married and began talking about going back to church, we started attending a Baptist church near our house at the time. About a month after we first started attending the church, I started feeling convicted. At the end of one of the services, I walked up to a preacher to ask for guidance. He helped me understand how to be saved from my sins through a relationship with Jesus Christ. I need Jesus. Through the messages during the services and the talks with my husband, I knew I had never given my life to God and Jesus, so I surrendered my life to Christ and was truly baptized, professing my faith to all to see. I now understand that the Lord is the one who has helped me live a life with epilepsy and He always will be and strengthen me. Through my relationship with the Lord, I’m more conscious of things that harm my body and mind and also cause me to have more seizures and I stay clear of those things now. My life is now much more positive because of my walk with the Lord. If you have any questions on how to develop a relationship with the Lord, please feel free to contact me!
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
The Lord is always by our side. He will always help you and give you the strength you need. Trust in God’s power and presence, no matter what you’re dealing with, such as epilepsy.

You were dealing with so much at a young age, but you found your way as your Dad and I always hoped and prayed you would. The struggles will always be there, but you are living a joyous life now!
