Why Exercising Helps
Over the past few years as I have tried to live a better life despite epilepsy, I am always looking for ways to better myself and ways to relax. Exercising has been a consistent way for me to get out of the house and accomplish something for that day, and better myself over time.
As you workout your body releases endorphins which can lead to a feeling of pleasure and accomplishment. This in turn helps reduce stress and anxiety. The reduction of stress and anxiety can help decrease the likelihood of having a seizure! Trust me, a good workout is very helpful. When you’re done, you feel so much better. After working out I find I have much more energy, motivation to get things done around the house, and I am in a much better mood.
1 Corinthians 3:16: 16 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.”
Keep in mind, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is exactly how we need to treat it. We need to exercise to help us stay healthy in order to be good stewards of the body the Lord has given us. We should strive to not only be physically fit, but also mentally and spiritually “fit” in order to answer God’s calling for our lives. This comes through consistently working out those parts of our lives, whether it’s working out, or spending time in God’s word.

Lauren, this is such a wonderful blog. I love how you tied the need to keep our bodies healthy and exercise and how our bodies are the Lord’s temple. As you said, being a good steward to the Lord is so important. Thanks for sharing.
